Now onyx punta cana irma damage11/16/2023 ![]() I told the concierge we will try to make the meetings the next morning just to stop them from talking. These sales tactics are VERY off-putting to nearly 100% of resort guests, I can assure, you, because we already spent the money for the all-inclusive up front and are on vacation to get away from sales people and phone calls. ![]() $100 romantic dinner coupon even though you already paid for all meals and the $100 it towards a dinner that is $200 ish so you're still out another $100. well, none of this was true, and the coupons were also a half-scam I'll say because they're very difficult to use ($40 to casino, but only use $10 per night as a bonus to real money you play with first that night. A concierge / rep approached us and asked for our gold keys (which apparently are traded in for $200 in coupons to use at the resort), which they then combine with an agreement to also sit for a 90 presentation the next morning + an "obligation" to have an "orientation" for the resort the next morning as well + an "obligation" to go to concierge at 9:30 the next morning to arrange your travel back to the airport (which for us was still 6 days away). ![]() Upon checking in, our room was not ready yet, which was not a big deal actually, but that's also when the real fun began. We arranged another way to the resort, free of charge, but very annoying to say the least. Another person then approached my wife and I and said "you're late". Upon arrival at the counter (Blue Travel, TSP) I was told that I spent too much time in airport and the shuttle already left. Upon arrival in Punta Cana, the shuttle I had paid for in advance had already left despite that we wasted NO TIME going through immigration/customs, getting our baggage, etc, which took nearly an hour. Moreover, I believe their management responses are either robots (like most of their staff upon dealing with real-time issues) and/or some assistant responding on behalf of management. The problem is that none of what they will say in their response is actually true (see other user reviews as well, as to certain problems and experiences), and there is ZERO chance we will ever stay at this resort again, honestly, even if they PAID me to. Management will respond by saying they are sorry, they strive to make everyone's stay as positive as possible, they will give lip service as to how processes should flow, and that they look forward to us staying with them again. I will preface with the management response in mind. My wife and I decided to go on one last trip without our two young children (both under 3) and expected to have a great time at New Onyx, in part, because our 1st all-inclusive Caribbean trip (Jamaica) went so well in 2016, the reviews for New Onyx were very strong overall, and it was a 4.5 star resort (supposedly slightly better than the resort we stayed in in Jamaica). Great people, we will definitely go back again. I had the pleasure of meeting 3 employees mentioned above plus the manager, I see them as my friends now. Pools were huge specially the preferred area. Restaurants were the best, great food and drinks. I met great people at Now Onyx all the employees are great no doubt. Easy going, friendly and an outstanding guy. Omar Saavedra the resort manager, we had the pleasure of meeting him and having a good chat. We even had breakfast with her on our preferred members meeting. From day one to the last day we were there Lenny took care of all our special events, she was super friendly with us. Lenny Laureano from member service super friendly. ![]() One of the best bartenders in Now Onyx Resort. He is a friendly guy, always greeted us with great attitude. Luis Janel (bartender) gave the best service in the preferred beverage bar. My butler Angel Guzman was the best, really friendly, always responded to my needs. We went there for our honeymoon, I couldn’t ask for more. My wife and I stayed at Now Onyx for 6 nights.
